Curb anti social activities like begging, illegal businesses, child abduction, women and men forced into begging by penalizing the customers or clients. The solution is based on 2 existing models.
1. Bribing is a crime as much as taking it
2. Seeking drugs is penalized
Advantages:
- Reduces child abduction
- Reduces begging
- Reduces illegal business
- Multiplies income towards govt
- Multiplies footprint of legal businesses
Solutions:
Buying from a minor: Penalizing those who knowingly buy from minors (on road, street, shop, organized or disorganized outlet), then the employment of minors will be reduced to a minimum. This disincentives the abductors of children who are often used for such activities. This will also increase the footprint of children at school.
Doing Business with illegal businesses: Penalize those who do business with street vendors who have occupied the street illegally. Buying from the road side businesses like eateries, street food outlets, vegetable fruit vendors might seem like a good act towards those who are selling it, but this is also encouraging criminal behavior and encourages breaking the law, disregard for life, law and order.
- A regular street shop setup takes up the entire footpath,
- its customers take up 20% of the road
- customers vehicles take up another 20% of the road
- walkers on the road will take up another 20% of the road since footpath is occupied illegally
- Chances of higher congestion, heavy traffic increases by 60% (since 60% of road is unusable)
- Chances of road accidents increase by 60% (since 60% of road is unusable)
- Discourages legal tax paying businesses who are paying rent, salary to employees to switch to non tax paying, non renting street vendors.
- Most vendors do littering which is against the law
- Most street vendors sell food which becomes unhygienic due to open cooking, road side dirt and pollution
- Creates street dog problem who keep hunting for bones, meat or other eatables on the footpath or road
We can simply start giving tickets to illegally parked vehicles on the road since they are causing congestion without asking the street vendors to stop their business. When people start getting penalized for just their vehicles being parked illegally in front of street vendors then demand for street vending will go down drastically.
