We had so many lakes, thanks to capitalism disguised as development 100s of lakes have disappeared within few decades. In bengaluru alone, nearly 500+ lakes have reduced to less than 100. Today the idols for immersion in india unlike the old days, are made of anti environmental materials, harsh chemicals and toxic colors. This further spoils the environment.
solution: Mandate idols for immersions to be made from fish food or food for aqua life. These can include grains, Shaadu mati, rice bran, millets like oats, seeds and even things like Effective Microorganisms (EM) Bokashi which help purify water bodies. Bring the prices chemical and eco friendly coloring agents/dyes by taxing the chemical dyes/colors and subsidizing the eco friendly dyes/colors
